Clinical Practice To be professionally and legally accountable as an autonomous professional for all aspects of own work and delegate to staff, students and others. To plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the paediatric occupational therapy service provided to children and young people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in a variety of locations To lead on designated aspects of service in the locality in conjunction with Locality lead To plan , coordinate and deliver programmes of training for parents/formal and informal carers ,education and social care staff To work closely with the other members of the integrated team within health and other agencies to ensure management and treatment meets the holistic needs of the child To support and train junior staff in writing EHCP reports including proof reading To manage a caseload using advanced therapeutic assessment for children who may have complex and diverse presentations . To formulate individual treatment plans utilising information from a range of sources based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice, advanced clinical reasoning skills and experience in applying relevant treatment approaches To provide specialist clinical expertise, advice and support to occupational therapy colleagues regarding children with complex disorders in order to promote a high standard of occupational therapy management To supervise teach and develop Occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues within area of expertise using evidence based practice / best practice To provide effective clinical supervision and assist with caseload monitoring of less experienced staff To be responsible for ensuring a good working environment in which children receive a high standard of care. To participate in the Trust clinical supervision and appraisal processes , carrying out supervision and appraisal reviews with staff as delegated reporting any issues of concern to the Team lead To maintain own CPD , keeping up to date with clinical developments & current research and evidence based practice to ensure own and others practice is safe and effective To lead the organisation and delivery of in-service training programmes, clinical pathway development and initiate and provide informal training sessions to ensure high standards of clinical care. To promote quality and service improvement, leading specific clinical audit within the service To provide day to day co-ordination and support for clinical education of occupational therapy students in liaison with universities to ensure expected quality standards are met To complete clinical records to Trust and HCPC standards To be personally accountable for maintaining skill, knowledge and competence in the use of SystmOne. To be aware of the Data Protection Act to ensure appropriate action is taken to ensure confidentiality and the protection of patient information, both written and electronic. Health and Safety To work within the Trusts health and Safety framework To carry out clinical risk assessment in own area of work and ensure there is effective risk management within the clinical areas. Policies and Procedures To work within the Trusts Policies and Procedures, clinical and HCPC guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards to monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate. To contribute to the development of local procedures
