The Clinical Learning and Development team provides Trust wide clinical education, ranging from basic skills to advance interventional skills and knowledge.

You will be joining a dynamic multi-professional team as a Band 7 Clinical Practice Development Nurse with the aim to lead, support and coordinate the training of the nursing programme and new members of the multidisciplinary team. This job is a permanent full- time post. The post holder will be co- ordinating the educational activities, assessments of learning and ensure to do clinical work in the in- patient wards cros-site.

The post holder will actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across the Division and Trust wide and be an effective role model for best practice.

The suitable three (3) post holders will be experienced registered nurses with good clinical competence and excellent ability to do clinical work and support learning in the medical/ surgical in- patient wards across the 2 main hospital sites in Chelsea and West Middlesex.

· The post holder will provide educational, clinical support for the staff and work clinically in the wards for 80% of their working time.

· To maintain primary responsibility for ensuring the Trust provides a progressive learning environment for the nurses, HCAs and students. The postholderwill support and coordinate the development of the nursing programme by co-ordinating educational activities and assessments of learning within thedepartment.

· Tobeinvolvedincorporate agenda by participatingin clinicalpractice and development within their division and liaising with the nursing development managers asappropriate.


· To support all educational programme provided by the Clinical Learning andDevelopmentteam trustwide.

· The postholderwill actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across the division and trust wide; andbean effective role model for best practicenursing.

· To demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills with patients andtheir relatives/carers, thereby acting as a positive role model for nurses on all levels and other staff.

Clinical Practice

· To work clinically on a regular planned basis, supporting registered and non- registered practitionersindeveloping theirpractice.

· To workinaccordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and Trust Policies and Procedures.

· To ensure that own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge and evidencebased.

· To produce written accounts of each episode of clinical facilitation, documenting learning objectives achieved and areas for furtherdevelopment.

· To demonstrate comprehensive nursing knowledgeinclinical settings, and support the advancement of knowledge and skills using evidence based practicetoall nursinglevels.

· To work effectively as part of the multi-professional, inter-disciplinary team,encouraging and supporting other health care professionalsinthe promotion and maintenance of an effective learningenvironment.

· To maintain effective working relations with colleagues at all levels and from different multi-disciplinaryprofession.

Education and Research

· To facilitate the learning and continuing development of all learners and registerednurses within the Trust, ensuring that educationisresponsive to servicedevelopments.

· To develop and co-ordinate planned educational programmes adhering to the NMC standards

· To adviseinrelationtoeducational opportunities and assist all learners and registerednursesindeveloping themselvesinaccordance with their personal developmentplanand/or appraisalobjectives.

· To support learners and staffindeveloping clinical competency using the Trust core and clinical competency document as a framework. To monitor use and completion of competencies to an agreedlevel, inaccordance with wardrequirement.

· To support the ward managers/ department leads,inproduction of objectives, development and evaluation of learning contracts for learners; including monitoring of action plans as required.

· To support appropriate practice assessor, practice supervisor and preceptorsintheir role, ensuring that learning opportunities are effectively utilised for alllearners.


· To promote research awareness by, disseminating appropriate evidence-based and research findings relevant to the clinical practice area. To keep the Head of Nursing Practice Development and Education informed of any new nursing research proposals, and on the progress of research studies approved by the TrustR&Dand EthicsCommittees.
• ToworkcloselywithApprovedEducationalInstitution(AEI) staffandtheHeadofNursing, Professional Practice and Standardsincontributing to the development and review of speciality-related nursing course, andinthe evaluation of relevant coursesinorder tohelpinform EducationCommissioning.

· To work collaboratively with AEIs and other Trust colleagues on education quality reviewsinrelation to the qualityofthe clinical learningenvironment.

· To support education and training of new learners / apprentices of all levels workingand learninginpractice across all fields ofpractice.

· To participateininter-professional teaching and learning including undergraduate medical education.

Corporate Practice Development

· To work with senior nursesi.e.ward managers and matrons to ensure that all learners and registered nurses’ development processes are implemented within their clinicalareas

· To work with the ward manager/matron to ensure clinical practice within their divisioniscompliant with national guidance and standards i.e. NICEguidance

· Tobeaware of themes and trends arising from clinical incidents and complaints, and ensure these form part of the on-going educational and development programmes for nurses on all levels within theirdivision

· Tobeaware of the quality and performancei.e.score cards within their divisions and support senior nurses with the implementation of qualityinitiatives

Workforce

· Toassistward sisters to maintain records of training undertaken by each member ofstaff.

· To produce appropriate educational data or reports requested bymanagement.

· Tolead inthe process of ensuring multi-disciplinary training tomeetspecificinitiatives.

· Toassist inthe process of recruitment of nursing staff andinconjunction with colleagues, identify and implement educational strategies that supportretention.

· To ensure all learners and registered nurses receive a comprehensive andindividualised induction and orientation package on commencement ofpost.

· In conjunction with senior nursing colleagues identify and address the educational implications of audit findings and clinicalincidents.

· ToensurecompliancewiththeTrust'sEquality,DiversityandInclusionStrategy,supporting thedeliveryoftheTrust'sdutytopositivelypromoteequalityand equalityofopportunityfor all staff, ensuring services are responsive to the needs of equalitygroups.
