Sandwell’s Early Years Service is a high performing team with a reputation of excellence across the local region. Professionals work closely with school and Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) settings, a range of Local Authority (LA) services and HMI to ensure the best possible standards of education for our children
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and will need to have recent and relevant successful experience as a teacher and leader in Early Years and management experience at a senior level. You will have extensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and early child development, of current Government policy and initiatives for children aged 0-5 and of Ofsted processes.
The successful applicant should be conversant with the expectations of Local Authority work and should be able to effectively lead the work of the Early Years teams. In addition, you will have a sound knowledge and understanding of Early Years funding requirements and mechanisms. Experience of leading and /or developing traded services within education would also be welcome.
As our Early Years Strategic Lead, you will:
Be a member of the Extended Directorate Management Team, contributing to the strategic management and co-ordination of education services with particular reference to the Local Authority’s support for children the Early Years sector in Sandwell Schools and PVI Early Years provision.
Be responsible for planning the strategic programme of work for the Early Years Team to provide ongoing challenge and support to Early Years settings in Sandwell Schools the PVI sector
Play a key role in monitoring the quality of provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage in Sandwell
Support professional and curriculum development in Sandwell schools and PVI settings with regard to Early Years practice and provide high quality in- service training for Early Years practitioners.
Work with partner agencies and stakeholders to improve the local offer for families and young children in Sandwell
Be responsible for ensuring there is sufficient Early Years provision within Sandwell and building capacity where needed to deliver the Government’s funding and initiatives.
Have responsibility for the funding for all local and national Early Years funding streams
