Erewash and West Nottinghamshire Building Consultancy, a shared local authority service covering Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield and Ashfield, is offering an exceptional opportunity to join our highly respected team as an Assistant Building Control Officer.

This role includes a fully funded Chartered Building Control Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship Level 6 (a professional qualification in Building Control Surveying) with the University of Wolverhampton – setting you on the fast track to become a professionally qualified Building Control Surveyor with a view to progressing to the role of Building Control Officer should an opportunity arise.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll support our team of experienced Building Control Officers in delivering a top-tier service, including:
• Assisting with inspections and plan checks for compliance with building regulations.
• Supporting customers, builders and developers with expert advice and clear guidance.
• Learning how to assess safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and structural integrity.
• Gaining hands-on experience in site inspections, dangerous structure response and demolitions.

Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for committed, enthusiastic future professionals who are ready to take the next step. To be eligible for the apprenticeship, you must have:
• 3 A Levels/GCSE’s at Grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent qualifications).
OR
• A Level 3 Apprenticeship in Construction or Property (or similar field).

No prior experience in Building Control is required – just a passion for the built environment, strong communication skills, and a drive to learn.
