Professional Energy People
Professional Energy People is a South Yorkshire based independent Energy Procurement & Management specialist with over 30 years of experience in the energy market.
What does this mean? Essentially, they help businesses make buying energy easy, saving the companies they work with thousands of pounds in energy costs by leveraging the best prices for gas, electricity, and water.
They also work with business to provide independent energy audits to identify potential savings through alternative renewable energy solutions and provide energy funding advice, successfully recouping over £100,000 in refunds for customers that have overpaid CCL (climate change levy) tax on their energy contracts.
Energy prices are constantly changing, and the team carefully identifies and quantifies potential areas of savings, advising customers when and how to purchase energy to gain the right price at the right time. PEP have the customer at the heart of their business.
The opportunity
They're now looking to expand their team with a Business Development Executive to join the current PEP team of 8, so that they can support even more businesses.
For the right candidate there will be exciting progression opportunities, including growth if desired into conducting EPC assessments.
This is a brand-new role which will be working closely with their Commercial Manager, Kayleigh Thompson.
Ideal candidate
A full induction and training programme will be provided for this role, including all the technical training that you will need, shadowing client meetings, job shadowing the energy management team on audits and full intro to head office processes.
The ideal candidate will however:
have previous experience working within some kind of sales role, or experience selling / account managing other products with a longer sales cycle such as utilities / insurance.
be keen (and enjoy) networking within the Yorkshire and Derbyshire area to expand our market presence and build relationships.
be adept at managing relationships of existing and prospective clients, as the role grows the balance of this will swing more to account management as you then manage new and renewals
Be local to PEP’s Rotherham office; we’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit team!
It’s a bonus if you’ve experience already working within the energy management industry, but this is by all means not essential.
What would I be doing day to day?
As this is a new role it is likely that the day to day will look slightly different depending on who the successful candidate is, but there are a few things that you can be sure to get involved with straight away
Lead generation – working from our data set to start prospecting straightaway introducing yourself as their new contact at PEP
Client meetings – securing meetings, ideally face to face (we like to build long-term in person relationships), with potential clients
Relationship building – at PEP building long lasting relationships is key, clients may have to wait until their current contracts are fulfilled so making sure you have regular comms is vital for converting them. Any leads you convert will be your clients the entire way through their journey with PEP, so it’s also up to you to ensure they renew when the time comes.
Networking – heading out into the local community to represent PEP at various networking events e.g. Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber events
It truly is an exciting time to join PEP, with their recent rebrand and their office move, they are now looking forward to expanding their close-knit team starting with this new role, as they also look to expand further into the public sector and increase their client base further afield.
This role is to be based in the office and ‘on-the-road'. The travel will mainly be based in Yorkshire but PEP are open to you traveling across the nation if you’re confident that you have found an amazing opportunity.
There is a commission scheme based on both new business and renewals, and targets are set quarterly rather than monthly due to the nature of the industry.
