Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Policy & Public Affairs team as our Policy and Public Affairs Manger. This is a fixed term, hybrid, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, based between home and our offices in Kings Cross, London due to end in April 2026.

This is an exciting role at Sense as we look to grow our influencing work, build on recent successes, and helping us to deliver our organisational and departmental objectives. The successful candidate will design and deliver our proactive engagement with parliamentarians and key stakeholders in Government. As well as working in partnership with colleagues across the Engagement directorate and wider to raise the profile of Sense and the people we support.


Key Responsibilities
Line management of 2 x Policy and Public Affairs advisors.
Supporting the day to day delivery of policy influencing and associated activities.
Collaborative working across the team and wider directorate to identify opportunities to deliver public affairs activities highlighting Sense and disabled people with complex needs.
Monitoring the public affairs environment and co-ordinating reactive and proactive activities.
Recording and reporting on Sense’s public affairs activities.
Working with colleagues across the team to ensure that policy positions are relevant, up to date and can be used to support wider campaigning and influencing activities to engage our supporters.
Key skills and experience
Experience of working with parliamentarians to achieve change.
Experience of broad and deep knowledge of policy development process and how to influence change.
Experience of using data and research to shape compelling and robust policy positions and recommendations for change.
Experience in the creation of compelling reports and narratives tailored to different audiences.
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong understanding of parliamentary processes and ways of working.
Excellent communication skills and great written English: ability to write and edit high quality content for publications, briefings and across a range of media channels.
A commitment to disabled people with complex needs and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn how to communicate with disabled people with complex needs and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of the Sense’s work.
