Job Title: Electoral Services Administrator
Ref: K&C 5270404
Pay rate: £16.90 per hour PAYE
You will be required to work some weekends and evenings during this period.
The role:
Join the team to support the Electoral Services Manager in delivering an efficient electoral service which complies with electoral legislation and meets the performance standards set by the Electoral Commission for electoral registration and elections.
You will assist in the compilation, maintenance and publication of the Register of Electors under Individual Electoral Registration, and undertake other administrative duties including the annual audit of the register.
You will provide assistance to the Electoral Services Manager with all aspects of organising elections and referenda.
You will assist with outreach initiatives to increase public awareness of electoral registration, particularly in under-represented groups.
Electoral registration and election experience is essential for this role.
Key responsibilities:
Supervise around 50 temporary canvass staff, assign work, monitor accuracy, and address performance issues
Support preparation and publication of the Register of Electors and monthly updates within legal requirements
Review and approve all changes to the Register before annual publication
Maintain and update Register information using the team’s IT system
Handle complex public enquiries via phone, email, and in-person
Manage sales of printed and digital Electoral Registers, ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations
Assist with absent voting records and application processing
Support management of special category elector lists and application renewals
Process purchase orders and invoice payments
What the client is looking for:
GCSE grades 4-9 (A*-C), NVQ level 2 or equivalent
Experience of working in a customer service environment, handling high volumes of telephone enquiries and emails, with excellent administration and communication skills
Electoral registration and election experience
Good levels of literacy and numeracy as high levels of accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this role
Proficient IT skills and the ability to process high volumes of applications within a specified period
Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and minimum supervision, resolving issues with customers while ensuring electoral policy and statutory law processes are adhered to
Able to work unsociable hours, particularly at peak times during canvass and elections to ensure service delivery. The post holder will be required to work some weekends and evenings during these periods
