80989 - Pole erector / Lorry Driver

This Pole erector / Lorry Driver will report to the Project Manager and will work within Network Operations based in our Risby office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £41,560 and a bonus of 3%.

If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check

Job Purpose

You will help deliver Distribution Capital Delivery projects and restoration of electrical supplies on the UK Power Networks distribution system. To support all site-based operations as instructed by line manager.

Principal accountabilities

  • Perform all work in connection with the construction, maintenance and report of

    • Overhead lines and any associate plant and equipment, including cable laying and necessary excavation, backfill and reinstatement

    • erection of overhead plant and equipment.

    • Deliver materials to site and returns to depot.

    • safe transportation of goods.

  • Perform works following UK Power Networks policies, procedures and standards.

  • Immediately report to line manager any breaches of health and safety regulations or unsafe occurrences.

  • Assist Linespersons carrying out work erecting poles on low voltage and High voltage systems following the appropriate safety rules..

  • Operate communications/data transmission and display equipment. In particular the mobile device solution for BTP.

  • Operate mechanical aids and use portable equipment, ensuring all Small Tools are fit for use.

  • Undertake standby tasks where required

  • Remove all traffic management, old poles and any leftover debris or spoil from site. Leaving it in a safe condition for the general public and other workers.

  • Help maintain yards and pole dump areas to keep them running safely.

  • Ensure all given works are carried out promptly.

  • Report any deviation from requested tasks immediately to line manager.

  • Promote UK Power Networks to both the general public and other UKPN teams.

  • Perform works following UK Power Networks customer service standards about shut down carding and customer appointments.

  • To approach and resolve any customer issues arising on site with the help of line manager.

  • Ensure regular communication with managers to understand work progress and planned future work.

  • Build relationships with colleagues and be a good team player who supports colleagues and reacts to the priorities of the team and wider Business departments.

  • Return time sheets.

  • Complete and return any required vehicle logs or mileage reports requested by line manager.

  • Drive vehicles, cleans them and carries out roadworthiness checks.

  • Comply with and promote Our policies, procedures and standards

  • Undertake all responsibilities demonstrating best practice

  • Promote and partake in team and company activities, by and willing to take on additional responsibilities

  • Perform additional and reasonable job related tasks as requested by your manager, following our needs.

Knowledge, qualifications and experience;

Essential

  • HGV driving licence Class 1 (C1E )

  • HIAB crane operator licence/ authorisation above 20ton (D1 +D7 + E)

  • knowledge of lifting plan regulations

  • knowledge of HSG47 safe digging techniques

  • First aid training certificate

  • Knowledge of industry

  • Experience working with general public

  • Experience working within a team

Desired

  • UK Power Networks competency certificate

  • auger attachment authorisation.

  • C&G qualification

  • Manual handling training certificate

  • NRSWA training certificate
