Maternity Support Worker (MSW) – Band 3

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Inpatient Maternity Support Worker posts, rotating across the unit, supporting the midwifery teams within the inpatient areas.. You will be experienced, enthusiastic and caring and must be able to work autonomously, demonstrating excellent clinical skills to provide women centred care.

The successful candidates will be working within the midwifery team supporting midwives to ensure all women receive optimum care, implementation of care and a range of designated patient duties to include the recording of patient details/records.

The community midwifery teams at WUTH provides care to approximately 3100 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.

About the Role

The successful applicant/s will work in rotation within the maternity unit to include Ward 53 (antenatal and postnatal). It will be in a shift pattern to include weekdays, weekends and night duties.

You will need to demonstrate your commitment to ongoing professional development within your role, with a commitment to working as part of a team and willing to demonstrate a high standard of evidence-based care in line with local and national initiatives. You should be able to work in a team as well as have the ability to work without direct supervision.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £16 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
