Summary

Specialist Mentor - Mental Health
Location: Birmingham
Pay: £28 per hour + £3.38 accrued holiday pay
Randstad Student Support is currently recruiting empathetic, experienced, and skilled Specialist Mentors to provide essential support to students in higher education. This is a vital position that directly contributes to student well-being and academic progress.

Role Overview
As a Specialist Mentor, you will:
Deliver one-to-one academic and mental health support tailored to individual student needs.


Help students manage their time, stay organised, and develop stress-reduction strategies.


Encourage self-confidence and promote independent learning.


Keep accurate records in line with Department for Education (DfE) standards.


Create a safe, supportive, and confidential space for students.


Offer support through both face-to-face and virtual sessions.


Work closely with the Randstad Student Support team to ensure quality service.


Positively impact the overall educational experience and well-being of students.

About You
You're a great fit for this role if you:
Are registered with one of the following: BACP, BPS, HCPC, NCPS, NMC, SWE, SCW, UMHAN, or COSCA.


Have experience working with students who have mental health conditions or disabilities.


Possess excellent communication and time-management skills.


Are passionate about supporting students and enhancing their success.


Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).

Key Skills & Qualifications
Mentoring and counselling experience


Expertise in mental health support and student well-being


Postgraduate qualification in a mental health-related area (preferred)


Mandatory registration with one of the professional bodies listed above
