Telent are now looking for a Service Control Manager to join the Network Services Infrastructure team. This role will be directly linked to the "Fibre Build" programme, across the Leeds and Yorkshire regions. You will carry out the role in an AGILE fashion, requiring a blend of working out of our Sub-contractor offices in Leeds, working from home, and travelling to sites across Leeds and Yorkshire to ensure control and delivery of the Fibre Build programme. You MUST be a holder of a full UK driving license.

This role will see you develop and maintain the business and operational processes required to support service delivery for the specific service area, including planning, enablement, scheduling, and performance functions within the assigned area. This Service Control Manager role will include interfacing with the client, the subcontractors, and the various operational teams to ensure we have a fully underpinned schedule with the flexibility to meet the service requirements.

Service Control Manager - What you'll do:

  • Ownership of the end-to-end delivery process across the functional teams for the specific service area.
  • Manage and develop the service control and scheduling team, setting standards, identifying the required levels of training, qualifications, and experience to meet requirements
  • Accountable for the production of all performance and analysis reporting, liaising with the client and key stakeholders to develop and maintain a forward-looking programme and ensure accurate forecasting of performance required for the specific service area.
  • Responsible for all offshore activities in relation to the service area including enforcement and monitoring of SLA's and compliance with Safety standards.
  • Act as the SPOC for the service area and ensure that all PMO and Service Control activities are mobilised correctly and handed over to the project and delivery teams.
  • Manage a centralised PMO & Service Control function to standardise the delivery of services including validation, enablement and scheduling including all offshore activities for the specific service area.
  • Take ownership of the client dashboard / KPIs for the service area and ensure the measures are reported in line with the contract and act as a key interface to the client for all reporting
  • Develop critical internal measures to ensure Telent maintain high standards of delivery and that drive collaborative behaviours.
  • Proactively support the wider aims of the business and other related activities
  • Seek continuous improvement for the delivery of the service area through the introduction of new and innovative approaches.
  • To develop and maintain the Forward Programme and make decisions on best possible outcomes against the Service Payments criteria
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports in line with the contractual and internal measures for the service area
  • Identify and quantify any programme/performance risks or opportunities related to the works within the service area including containment measures and drive accountability across the delivery teams for performance against the dashboard
  • Provide performance improvement plans as required and manage the implementation and recovery
  • Own and manage the escalation processes including client and public enquiries

Service Control Manager - Who you are:

You are a highly organized and results-focused professional with a strong background in managing service delivery and operational processes, ideally within the telecommunications or construction sectors. You excel at leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving collaborative efforts to achieve program objectives. With a keen eye for performance metrics, you are adept at reporting, forecasting, and identifying risks and opportunities. Your excellent client-facing skills and ability to thrive under pressure make you a strong asset in high-stakes environments. You are also passionate about continuous improvement and innovation, always seeking ways to enhance service delivery and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards. Holding a full UK driving license, you're ready to contribute to Telent's Fibre Build programme and help maintain critical infrastructure.

Service Control Manager - Key requirements:

  • Degree level or equivalent experience in an appropriate discipline.
  • Knowledge of working in the construction sector, including safety and environmental requirements and how these are applied, monitored, and improved.
  • Excellent people management skills in a cross-functional/matrix environment.
  • Proven ability in driving collaborative behaviours with Clients, Suppliers, and internal/external delivery teams.
  • Excellent client-facing skills, comfortable engaging at senior levels within their organisation.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and building strong relationships with the Client and
  • Suppliers to meet programme objectives.
  • Strong and proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent financial and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent reporting skills, including experience with Power BI or similar data science tools.
  • Demonstrable success leading telecommunications and/or capital works projects with high technology content in a safety or mission-critical environment
