Job Title: Payroll Clerk
Location: Alcester, B49
Job Type: Part-Time
Working Hours: 25 hours per week
Reports to: Payroll Manager

Job Purpose:

To ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with current legislation and internal policies. The Payroll Clerk will support the finance team with payroll-related queries, data entry, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly payrolls in a timely and accurate manner


  • Maintain employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, benefits, tax codes, and statutory deductions


  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and company policies


  • Administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and redundancy pay


  • Manage pension contributions and liaise with pension providers


  • Assist with year-end tasks such as P60s and P11Ds


  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with internal audits


  • Handle employee queries relating to payslips, tax codes, and holiday pay


  • Support HR and Finance with payroll-related reporting and data


  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices


    Requirements:

    Essential:

    • Previous experience in a payroll processing role


    • Knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory requirements (PAYE, NI, RTI)


    • Experience using payroll software


    • Good Excel and data entry skills


    • High attention to detail and confidentiality


    • Strong communication and organisational skills


      Desirable:

      • CIPP qualification or working towards it


      • Experience with auto-enrolment pensions


      • Knowledge of HR systems and integration with payroll
