We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work in the Tascor Central Property Store based at Middlesbrough Police Station.
You will be part of a team who are responsible for the management of evidence recovered by Cleveland Police and lost & found property handed in by the public to the force. You will travel around the force area moving items of property, the disposal of items, and the return of items to members of the public. This role requires a full valid driving licence, involves weekend working on a rotating daytime shift pattern, and is subject to both Capita and Police vetting; any job offer is subject to successful completion of this vetting.
What you'll be doing:
• collect and safely store items seized by Cleveland Police Officers, using the NICHE RMS system; this includes driving a van around the local area and manual lifting and moving of items
• look after lost property handed in by the public and try to find and contact the rightful owners.
• enter information from recorded interviews into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
• answer phone calls, emails, and other messages in a professional and respectful way, following the rules of the Data Protection Act 1984.
• help Police Officers, staff, and members of the public who visit the Property Office with their questions.
• follow all health and safety rules when handling property.
What we're looking for:
Essential:
• full UK driving licence - you'll need to drive a van regularly as part of your weekly duties.
• willingness to learn IT systems - comfortable using a computer and open to learning new systems, including basic Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel.
• physical requirements - the role involves regular lifting and moving of items, sometimes from one floor of the building to another, so a good level of fitness is needed. You should also be comfortable with manual tasks throughout the day.
• proactive and flexible - a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
Desirable:
• familiarity with Police systems - knowledge of police IT systems or an understanding of policing procedures is a plus.
• van driving experience - experience driving larger vehicles and making deliveries would be beneficial.
Due to the Police Vetting that is required for this position, you must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
