Job Title: Support Worker / Carer (Maternity Cover Only)

Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum & Dad)

Hours: 7 hours per week

Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.21

Based at: Employer’s own home in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and out in the local community.

Please note that the position is Maternity Cover only with a start date of April 2025

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young girl (10) with autism and global developmental delay. The child lives at home with her family. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support her with all his needs. Personal care will be required. The child has a great character.

Main duties:

To support with:
• Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and moving.
• Constant supervision is always required.
• Support with all safety aspects.
• To be a social friendly companion to the child
• To support with sensory play
• On occasions, light household duties such as changing the bed, hoovering, washing up, etc
• You will be required to keep her entertained in the home.
• To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys.
• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the Employers request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 6-month probationary period.
