32.5 hours per week

Fixed Term until 31 August 2026

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Primary KS2 Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join Appleton Academy.

The primary phase is two form entry with classes from Nursery to Year 6. We have an outstanding early years provision, providing strong foundations for our children to flourish. As a team we are determined to provide the best possible education to our pupils. We are an inclusive school, both in terms of our intake and in terms of the education and support we want to offer to pupils of all backgrounds, to help them reach their true potential.

We have planned a curriculum that is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning, ensure achievement and to support pupil well-being and happiness. It enables us to build strong relationships, celebrate diversity, encourage respect and build a sense of community. It provides and acknowledges success for all children, in all aspects of their development and it recognises, encourages and celebrates all types of talent.

As a member of primary, you will be joining a strong and supportive team of staff who are driven to ensure that our pupils achieve the highest possible standards. As a school, we all work together. Appleton Academy is part of Exceed Academies Trust, which currently consists of fourteen academies; ten primary schools, an all-through primary-to-secondary academy, two alternative provision academies (Primary and Secondary), and a specialist setting for children/young people who suffer from social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The Trust has an excellent reputation within Bradford and beyond, and an outstanding track record of supporting staff in developing their careers through specialist training lead by the Exceed Teaching School Hub and our Outstanding SCITT.

The successful candidate will have;

• Recent successful experience as a primary teacher
• Successful and varied teaching experience as a teacher or trainee
• Experience of teaching mathematics and English within a primary setting
• Knowledge and clear understanding of the statutory framework for education, new and innovative developments within education
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of education in the primary age phase, including tracking and monitoring pupil progress
• Knowledge of successful strategies for assessing and raising pupils’ achievement in particular the National Curriculum English and Maths assessment frameworks



The essential requirements of this role are;

• Qualified Teacher Status
• Degree level study in a related Subject
• English and Maths GCSE in Grade C or above
