We are seeking an organised and motivated apprentice who is eager to learn and develop. Could this be the right opportunity for you?

In this role, you will work closely with colleagues to deliver a truly customer-focussed service that makes a meaningful difference.

You will be an integral part of the dynamic Highways, Transport, and Planning directorate, collaborating with Business Analysts to support process mapping and data analysis tasks to identify improvements and develop effective solutions.

Salary: £24,790 to £25,183 per annum

Contract Type: 18 months Apprenticeship

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ

Interview Date: Week commencing Monday 14 July 2025

This unique opportunity combines practical, hands-on experience with focused self-study, enabling you to develop both personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will last 18 months, during which approximately 20% of your working week will be allocated to studying.

We will provide you with the flexibility and support to learn while you work, but you will need to have the commitment and dedication necessary to successfully balance your studies with your day-to-day role.

You will undertake and complete the various elements of the Improvement Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship: The Functional Skills, Knowledge and Understanding, and Behaviours of an Improvement Practitioner.

The role will offer hybrid working arrangements where at least 2 days per week based at a County Hall, Chichester will be required. Up to 3 days can be worked from home. Final arrangements to be confirmed with successful candidate.

About the Job

Our work in Highways, Transport and Planning and any given day can often feel quite different from the next! There will be some key responsibilities likely to feature in this role, including:

  • Supporting process mapping and data analysis.
  • Participating in meetings and briefings as directed by your manager, offering your insights and making meaningful contributions with enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrating initiative by independently addressing unexpected issues or situations and adhering to deadlines established by your work schedule or your manager.
  • Supporting operational and project meetings.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regularly.
  • Working alongside a diverse group of colleagues to broaden your experience, as opportunities permit, and to genuinely meet the vital needs of the service.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Two A-level passes at grade C or above, or an equivalent vocational qualification, such as NVQ Level 3.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines and proactively complete a variety of tasks.
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team to deliver a coordinated service to others.
