Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
How’s this for job satisfaction: at Scottish Water we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we are guarding Scotland’s reputation for refreshingly pure water, and caring for our environment at the same time.
Sound good? We are looking for motivated people to join the Shetland Area Team within Customer Service Delivery.
What you’ll do
You will join a motivated multifunctional team who are committed to making a real difference to the experience our customers have with us. This is not just a task driven role – you will be empowered to take ownership of problems, investigate them fully, initiate solutions and provide support to our customers.
You will be responsible for carrying out excavation, maintenance and repair on water networks and a variety of other tasks including maintaining water network assets including service reservoirs and pumping stations, dealing with customer facing related issues on a day to day basis.
The focus of the role will be to ensure the resolution of customer issues and the recovery of any reputational impact our operations have on customers.
As a member of our multifunctional response team, you will be required to participate in an out of hours multifunctional standby rota which in addition to the water related tasks listed above will include carrying out maintenance and choke clearing on sewer networks and a variety of other tasks.
What you’ll bring
You’ll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you’ll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team’s goals. Basic IT skills are a must, as you’ll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. You’ll need report writing skills too – nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.
An understanding of health and safety principles for site working or skills in basic ground.
A full, clean driving licence is non-negotiable and ideally a digger/excavator ticket would also be an advantage but full training will be provided to right candidate.
This role includes standby responsibilities & there is possibility of overtime. This role will be a Grade 4. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £27,590. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,410.
If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until the 4th July at midnight.
