About the role
Street Cleansing Supervisor
Team: Waste Management and Transport
Location: Bradley Fold Depot (with flexibility to start on-site at various locations)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (07:0015:00), with potential rota-based working depending on service needs
Salary: £30,559 - £33,366
About the Role
Bury Council is committed to delivering a high-quality, cost-effective waste and street cleansing service to over 84,000 households and businesses across the borough. Our Street Cleansing team services more than 1,500 litter bins weekly and maintains approximately 5,000 streets, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all residents.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Street Cleansing Supervisor to lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of our street cleansing service. This is a key frontline leadership role, responsible for ensuring the delivery of a customer-focused, efficient, and high-performing service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, deploy, and organise a team of 27 staff, including LGV Street Cleansing Drivers, Street Cleansing Operatives, and Fly Tipping Response Teams.
- Monitor and manage daily operations to ensure service standards and performance targets are met.
- Support the Street Cleansing Manager in delivering continuous improvement and value for money.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and operational procedures.
- Respond to service demands flexibly, including starting from various on-site locations as required.
About You
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with experience working with frontline operational teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A sound understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to street cleansing and waste services.
- A commitment to delivering high standards of public service and customer care.
Additional Information
This role is primarily based at Bradley Fold Depot, though flexibility is required to work from other locations across the borough. The successful candidate must be available to work within the service’s core hours of 07:0015:00.
