Salary: Grade 6, £28,624 - £31,586 per annum.

Your role:

Leigh Sports Village is a pioneering multi-sector development and is now one of the finest sporting hubs in the Northwest. The Sports Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, education, wellbeing, leisure, and culture and serves the local community and the region.

We are looking for a committed individual with a passion for sports and leisure industry with the drive to make a real difference. As Duty Manager for the on-site Youth Hub, you will join our Management Team reporting to the Site Operations Manager. You will also support Leigh Sports Village’s Arena and Pennington Flash site where necessary.

Day to day you will work as part of a team of Duty Managers responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Youth Hub as well as having sole responsibility for identifying funding opportunities and applying for grants to generate additional revenue streams for the Hub and Leigh Sports Village (and partner) offer. You will also supervise casual staff members whilst on duty.

Your role is key to ensuring the Youth Hub delivers a safe environment for all users and by securing funding it will secure the longer-term sustainability of the Youth Hub for years to come.

About you:

Candidates should have a knowledge and experience of working within the relevant area: Sport, education, wellbeing, leisure, and culture.

The ideal candidate will display the Be Wigan Behaviours and be positive, courageous, kind and accountable and be able to work well as part of a diverse team that works across a wide range of business areas. You will need to be self-motivated, driven and solution focused in your approach and demonstrate that you have excellent ability to build effective partnerships.

You must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

  • Experience working within the sports and leisure industry.
  • Experience of identifying and submitting funding and grant applications.
  • Experience of securing funding.
  • Possession of a recognised Leisure Management qualification, Level 3 or equivalent (alternatively candidates must demonstrate an equivalent level of skills and experience).
  • First Aid at work certificate (or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment).
  • Recognised gym qualification (or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment).
  • Leadership Experience.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • GCSEs (A-C) Maths & English.
  • High standard of organisation and communication skills.
