Imperial College Healthcare (ICHT) NHS Trust wishes to recruit a research fellow in Preterm birth Prevention care at St Marys Hospital. This is a post in abusyunit serving a diverse and complex population and will beavailable from October 2025. This post is mainly research based, with projects focussing on preterm birth prevention. Clinically they will also aid the unit as part of theon callrota at registrar level (depending on individual clinical experience), and will attend a weekly obstetric medicine clinic. The preterm birth prevention clinic at St Marys is all day and has research and clinical care fully integrated in the care pathways. It is expected that the candidate will contribute to audit and quality improvement within the preterm birth multi-disciplinary team and to organise and attend patient and public involvement groups. Working with the research team, the candidate will identify a particular area of research and set up clinical research studies. It will be expected there will be a laboratory component to the research. Research output will be in the form of publications, conference presentations and departmental meetings. It is expected that the research will contribute towards a qualification of higher education (MD/PhD) at Imperial College London. The candidate is responsible for higher degree registration fees however a discount is applied for Trust staff (please access current information on this)'. Duties and responsibilities: Research sessions (60%) and clinical sessions will include the following: regular morning ward rounds of women at high risk of preterm birth. Assessment of patients in Day Assessment / Triage in Obstetrics. The fellow will also attend emergency an elective cerclage lists to gain experience in this skill. The fellow will have an all day preterm birth prevention clinic once a week, and will attend the obstetric medicine clinic weekly. Trainees are expected to participate in regular appropriate handovers to their colleagues and follow up patients with abnormal results. There are opportunities for supervised scanning in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and to learn basic surgical skills. Timetable will vary depending on the clinical commitments requiring cover Regular meetings: Tuesday am: March of Dimes collaborative meeting (every two weeks) Wednesday am: Obstetric Medicine meeting (weekly) Friday pm: Lab meetings (every two weeks) Post Graduate forum (monthly varying days): departmental teaching
