We’re looking for a motivated and knowledgeable School Data Systems Specialist to join our Information Technology Services team, reporting to the GDST Data Systems Manager. This role plays a key part in supporting and developing school data systems across the GDST, including platforms such as ESS SIMS, CPOMS, and Admissions+.
You’ll act as a systems expert and advisor, helping to drive data standards, support school staff, and contribute to the ongoing development of our data strategy. The role offers the opportunity to lead user groups, collaborate with schools and Trust Office teams, and influence how data systems are used to enhance educational outcomes.
This position is open to internal and external applicants and can be offered as a part-time or secondment role, with flexibility to focus on specific areas of the job description depending on your experience and availability. We are happy to discuss a mixture of office or school based and remote working.

Accountabilities
- Support and enhance the GDST’s portfolio of School Data Systems
- Provide expert advice and guidance to school leaders and staff in the effective use of data systems
- Support the development and delivery of the GDST’s School Data Systems strategy
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a systems specialist for school data platforms
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data and system requirements across the Trust
- Lead communications and user groups to support and develop system usage
- Contribute to the development of other business systems as required
- Build collaborative relationships to ensure a deep understanding of user needs
- Liaise with third-party suppliers, offering consultancy support and acting as a key point of contact for system-related matters
- Provide third-line support for complex queries relating to school data systems
- Support professional development and training within the Systems and Data team
- Where required, deputise for colleagues within the team
