Salary: £21,175.87 per annum (FTE £23,824)
Contract Type: 1 year fixed term contract with a likely opportunity to extend.
Working pattern: 35 hours per week, 8:30am to 4:30pm
40 weeks per annum (term time plus up to one week during the school closure period)
Start date: September 2025
Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will join our multidisciplinary team, which includes Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other Learning Support Assistants. This rewarding role will see you play a vital part in providing classroom support and helping pupils develop communication, curriculum, social, and behavioural skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support for children’s educational and social needs.
Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, providing one-on-one and group support.
Build positive relationships with pupils, respecting their diverse backgrounds and promoting inclusive learning.
Support behaviour management, using effective strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
Contribute to the assessment of pupils’ progress and help adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
Use ICT and other tools to support and enhance learning.
Support school activities, such as swimming sessions, playtime, and off-site trips.
Participate in training and development opportunities, including safeguarding, medical support, and classroom management.
What we are looking for:
Experience working with primary-age pupils, ideally in an SEN environment.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with a flexible and positive attitude.
Basic literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills (GCSE Grade C or equivalent).
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
About Us:
Meath, a Speech and Language UK school, is a day and residential non-maintained primary special school for up to 75 pupils aged 4 to 11 years with complex speech and language challenges. Our most recent Ofsted report (2023) is highly positive about the work of the school and the progress which our children make. ‘Pupils are happy and safe, and they enjoy being in school.
