Job Description
Live Life Outdoors as part of Live Life Aberdeenshire/Aberdeenshire Council are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Coach and deliver our established Cycle Programme “Bringing the bike to you.”
Based in Inverurie, the successful candidate will be part of the wider Live Life Outdoors team, playing a key role within the Live Life Outdoors Cycle Base and delivering a range of cycling activity to Primary/Secondary pupils, at community events, during residentials, and as part of event support across Aberdeenshire. In addition, the post will also support our Event Equipment programme to ensure that local communities and wider Council linked events can be supported via our focused range of event equipment.
This established role ensures that our expanding programme provides high quality and progressive sessions using our dedicated fleet of Frog Bikes and other bikes, supported by a wide range of additional equipment and options, that allows creation of sessions that go beyond simply riding a bike. This role will involve the planning, risk assessing and delivery of sessions in identified terrain suitable for cycling activity.
The programme aligns itself to the national training programmes, with an overall aim of ensuring enjoyable and safe sessions that allow children across Aberdeenshire to reinforce their confidence and enjoyment of cycling, including Mountain Biking, and also aligns to the wider development of the activity across Aberdeenshire and Scotland.
Candidates must be qualified to National Governing Body level, with a qualification in Cycling/Mountain Biking being beneficial or a similar/transferrable accredited qualification, and candidates must have experience of creating progressive, adaptable and comprehensive session plans. Please note that we deliver a participatory programme and wider training to cover all aspects of delivery will be provided where necessary. The programme will focus on both weekdays and weekends with occasional evening work.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
