Hays are working with a renowned distribution business in Shrewsbury who are seeking a Purchasing Analyst on a permanent basis due to growth. This is an instrumental role in shaping and executing pricing strategies across diverse products and markets. This role combines data analytics, market intelligence, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize pricing models that drive profitability and competitiveness.
Your new role
As a Purchasing Analyst you will report to the Procurement Director and be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and maintain dynamic pricing models based on data, market trends, and customer behaviour.
  • Lead the implementation of pricing mechanisms.
  • Monitor and adjust pricing algorithms to align with demand, cost changes, and strategic goals.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of pricing strategies on revenue and profitability.
  • Establish and maintain supplier price benchmarking systems.
  • Support commercial teams with scenario planning and cost impact analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing research into competitor pricing and market dynamics.
  • Analyze industry benchmarks and customer feedback to inform pricing decisions.
  • Deliver insights to marketing, product, and sales teams..
  • Support the development of agile pricing systems, including real-time online pricing.
  • Ensure pricing practices comply with legal and internal standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of pricing models and changes.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to have demonstratable experience within:

  • Minimum 2 years in dynamic pricing, revenue management, or a similar analytical role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
