Summary
To support delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) 0-19 (DH 2010) thereby improving outcomes for children and families. The public health staff nurse (health visiting): Supports the health visiting team in the delivery of the healthy child programme to families between the antenatal period up until the childs fifth birthday. This includes the mandated contacts of antenatal contact, new baby contact, six to eight week contact and for staff nurses would also involve some targeted work overseen by the health visitor within that team. Contributes to the public health agenda, and works as part of a wider team to meet locally commissioned and national Office of Health Inequalities and disparities key performance and public health targets and reduce health inequalities in partnership with key agencies meeting national agendas. Will promote the protection of children, adhering to the Local Safeguarding Childrens Partnership policies and procedures. Will work as an autonomous registered practitioner within a locality Public Health Nurse team and with partner agencies where appropriate, e.g. Early Help networks, Family Hubs and early years settings. Supports service development, standard setting, clinical audit and bench marking, deliver a high quality, evidence based, needs led, safe and effective service to all client groups. Develops and takes responsibility for the key attributes of generosity, curiosity, authentic, and caring whilst delivering restorative practice which embodies the principles of relational, respectful, reflective, resilient practice within their role. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English. The role also requires candidates to be active on the NMC register, to have a current driving license with access to a vehicle and to have rights to work in the UK.
