Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic Transport Operations Supervisor to join our team in the Pallet Network in Cullompton. You will be responsible for leading the coordination of the pallet network depot, ensuring health and safety is the forefront for all staff and a smooth running of the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will lead the coordination of the Pallet Network transport operations, providing direction and communications with the network operators and the driver team to ensure a smooth, efficient and proactive delivery performance.
- Ensure our people are our top priority, with health and safety is the forefront of all activities.
- Ensuring all vehicles have been dispatched on time from the depot.
- Provide leadership and supervision of day to day Pallet Network, including toolbox talks, driver debriefs and team briefings.
- Work collaboratively with the wider pallet network team to provide excellent service performance for our customers and the pallet networks.
- Oversite of route planning for all vehicles, to ensure that all vehicles and drivers under your supervision are routed effectively to always maximise their utilisation, maintaining service levels to customer and GDL requirements, whilst keeping control over associated costs.
- To ensure that vehicles, drivers and trailers are operating in adherence to all statutory obligations regarding Law and Health & Safety, ensuring 100% compliance is maintained.
- To ensure that GDL and customers' paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- To ensure all pallet network systems and service obligations are met daily.
- To ensure our customers delivery and collection are met on time.
- To ensure that industrial relations are maintained and that local disputes are dealt with quickly and, where out of your control, ensure that your Senior Manager is aware of the situation.
- Be responsible for the first level of disciplinary procedures to be taken against one of the staff under your supervision.
- To monitor and react to any skills gaps that might occur within the team.
- To answer the telephone in a courteous manner, dealing quickly with questions that are raised either by the customer or Senior GDL Management.
- Maintain good working relationships with, and between, drivers and customers to ensure that any problems arising are handled amicably and through correct channels.
- Assist in the recruitment of drivers, ensuring that they are properly inducted and trained in operating procedures.
Required Experience:
- This would be a great opportunity for a transport operator/planner looking to progress their career within the Gregory group.
- Transport Operations experience (multi drop)
- Pallet Network experience would be of benefit.
- Experience with transport compliance
- Experience with health and safety.
