Position: People Assistant (Trainee)
Location: Selkirk
Salary: £22,932 per annum
Fixed Term Contract for 18 months

About the Role:
As a People Assistant (Trainee), you’ll be a key part of our People Team, helping with everything from recruitment and onboarding to handling general HR admin. This is a hands-on role that will give you the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of HR while making a real impact on our organisation. You'll be supported throughout your apprenticeship to achieve a SCQF Level 6 in Business Administration, with a key focus on recruitment, and gain the skills to kick-start your HR career.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Recruitment & Selection:
• Advertise and promote job vacancies.
• Manage applications and schedule interviews.
• Issue contracts and conduct inductions for new starters.
• Ensure all pre-employment checks are completed to get our new hires onboarded smoothly.
Onboarding:
• Assist in welcoming new candidates and helping them get set up.
• Conduct reference checks and identification requirements.
• Keep in touch with candidates and collect all necessary information for a smooth onboarding experience.
HR Policies & Procedures:
• Learn about HR policies and help provide advice to managers and employees.
• Respond to general HR queries, ensuring that you're always there to support the team.
People Support:
• Be the contact person for HR related questions and act as the bridge between employees and the People Team.
• Help maintain a positive working environment by promoting our values of Commitment, Collaboration, and Positive Interactions.
Admin & Project Support:
• Assist with HR meetings and help prepare formal letters.
• Get involved in HR projects and provide essential administrative support.
• Analyse workforce data and maintain HR records and systems.

• Strong Communicator: You’ll need to be comfortable talking to people, both in person and online.
• Organised: You'll need to juggle different tasks, stay on top of deadlines, and manage priorities.
• Detail-Oriented: Accuracy is key when it comes to HR documentation and data.
• A Willingness to Learn: We’ll teach you the ropes, but you need to be keen to pick up new skills and grow.
• Team Player: While you'll have your own responsibilities, we're all about collaboration and supporting each other.
