Summary

The post-holder will be employed by The Junction Foundation and will work into the InsideOut Mental Health Support Team, alongside a wider team of practitioners. The Assistant Education Mental Health Practitioner (AEMHP) is an active member of the team working with others to support the delivery of mental health and emotional wellbeing activities and to deliver positive outcomes for children, young people and their families The post holder will deliver a range of delegated activities as part of a multidisciplinary team to support children, young people and their families by offering age-appropriate information and advice on a range of emotional health, lifestyle and behaviour related issues. The role will work alongside the more senior members of the team delivering Assessments, Whole School Approach, Training and Group Work. We hope that the successful candidate will complete the Education Mental Health Practitioner qualification when a space is available at Northumbria University. As part of the wider team, support the delivery of emotional wellbeing activities to individual and/or groups of children, young people and families. Deliver a range of evidence based brief interventions (i.e. brief advice, guided self-help, signposting) on a range of emotional health and wellbeing related issues under the direction of the EMHP and/or Senior Practitioner. Deliver the Whole School Approach (WSA) including audits and action plans and support the wider team to deliver a range of WSA activities including psychoeducation groups, assemblies, workforce training etc. To support schools in developing strategies/activities to promote emotional well-being and positive mental health. Actively work towards developing and sustaining effective working relationships with schools, education settings and partner agencies in accordance with Joint Working Agreements Keep clear, professionally coherent records of all activity in line with both health and education service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making. Complete all requirements relating to data collection. As appropriate, assist and lead in the development and production of resources for the benefit of children and young people, ensuring that they are age appropriate. Contribute to the setting of targets/action plans and work related to these, to assist service development. Liaise with other staff and agencies to further meet the needs of children and young people in accordance with the service criteria, policies and procedures. Strengthening the relationship with school staff (such as SENDCO, Pastoral Lead, Head Teacher etc), Mental Health Providers (such as Statutory CAMHS, other Voluntary Sector Organisations), Social Care and other relevant services. Take part in the delivery of training (as appropriate), consultation with and guidance to, others, pertaining to the level of development. Responsible for safeguarding children, promoting the welfare of children and young people at all times and operating within local policies and procedures. Under guidance and support taking appropriate safeguarding action to protect children and young people at risk of significant harm. Training and Supervision: To apply learning from induction, directly into practice. Engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competences and practice. Prepare and present information to supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis to ensure safe practice and the governance obligations of the service. Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in practice. Professional: To adhere to all The Junctions Policies, Procedures and Guidelines. To act in a professional manner at all times whilst representing the service.
