About the role:
The Financial Support Officer (Housing) provides tailored advice on benefits, debt, and income maximisation to help tenants manage and sustain their tenancies. The role involves proactive casework, supporting digital and financial inclusion, and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies. It requires strong knowledge of social security systems, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to public service and tenant well-being.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
To effectively support tenants, collaborate with colleagues, and liaise with
external agencies.
A commitment to helping vulnerable individuals sustain tenancies and improve their financial well-being.
Knowledge of social security systems and financial advice
Especially Universal Credit, debt management, and income maximisation.
Emotional resilience and empathy
To support tenants facing financial hardship or personal challenges.
Excellent organisational and time management skills
To manage caseloads, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
Digital confidence and adaptability
To promote digital inclusion and use technology to support tenants and improve service delivery.
What you will do:
Provide tailored financial, benefits, and debt advice to help tenants sustain their tenancies.
Support tenants in managing rent arrears and avoiding legal action or eviction.
Promote digital and financial inclusion through one-to-one support and
community initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to support tenant well
being
Keep up to date with welfare legislation and advise colleagues and tenants
accordingly
Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement through data analysis.
