What skills and experience we're looking for
• Be computer literate – Word, Excel, Email, Microsoft Teams etc
• Good administration skills – ability to control accounts, book transport and courses
• Awareness of Health and Safety
• Knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
• Knowledge of Cadet forces ethos and desire to support encourage and develop cadets / supporting staff
• Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
• Ability to prioritise
• Good communication skills, written and oral
• Achieved a SNCO / Officer rank in the Regular / Reserve / Cadet Forces
• Previous experience with Cadets or young people
• A proven record of administration, preferably in a training environment
What the school offers its staff
This new and exciting role will be instrumental in the creation, marketing and launch of the CCF, establishing it as a successful and operational contingent for the future students of John Spence. You will work closely with the operational staff (Contingent Commander, CFAVs and school support teams) within the local area.
We are offering this post out as a permanent contract. This post will be for two days per week devoted solely to CCF matters which are open for discussion, but will need to include parade days each Monday at 3.00pm – 5.00pm.

Our school is at the heart of the community, and boasts an outstanding Personal Development offer for all of its students, offering a vast range of enrichment and extra-curricular activities. From September 2025, we are launching our very own Cadet Combined Force (Army) and you can be part of this exciting initiative from the onset.
This new and exciting role will be instrumental in the creation, marketing and launch of the CCF, establishing it as a successful and operational contingent for the future students of John Spence. You will work closely with the operational staff (Contingent Commander, CFAVs and school support teams) within the local area.

John Spence Community High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant checks deemed appropriate. As per MOD and single service(s) policy, the SSI will also require national vetting at security clearance level.
