The Platform Engineering team is on a mission to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group, a single platform consumed by every engineer and platform across the entire group, you'll be at the heart of one of the UK's biggest financial service technical transformations.

We're looking for a passionate Technical Product Owner with an exceptional track record to play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the roadmap and product development on our flagship Internal Developer Platform.

What you'll do

  • Own your Product Backlog, bringing thought and product leadership, education and mentorship covering your key skill areas to support your team as they build out your vision for the product backlog & roadmap.

  • Liaise and collaborate with all levels of customers & colleagues up to exec level to build backlogs & roadmaps that work not just for Engineering but have our customer's requirements front and centre stage.

  • Have a solid sense of ownership and integrity who enjoys working and be a great collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams.

  • Listen, influence, challenge, build trust and consensus from both your team and customers alike, whilst acting as the voice of the customer

  • Stay calm & resilience under pressure and ensure the team always do the right thing by the customer, whilst appreciating things won't always go right first time and are not afraid to challenge the 'norm'

What you'll need

  • Experience of shaping Product Vision & building Product Roadmaps working closely with customers to define, then multiple parties to communicate content and benefit.

  • Expert knowledge in building and managing comprehensive Product Backlogs using JIRA including defining Features, User Stories and Acceptance Criteria

  • Accountable for Product Change Governance

  • Expertise in prioritisation, co-ordinating with Customer Journey Managers ensuring delivery of the backlog via your Integrators (Delivery managers), and Engineering team(s) using the Agile method.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with other parties with respect to securing dependencies outside your Lab, including definition, prioritisation and tracking the work to successful conclusion.

  • Significant experience of Bank Change Process & related Governance and readiness to adapt this experience to the new Platform model including operational or Project Risk Management & Mitigation, all whilst managing against product budget.

  • Has excellent communication skills for interaction with both our customers and the many Product teams of highly skilled engineers,

  • Ability to work with multiple 3rd Party Vendors, building effective, partnering relationships.

As this is a Technical Product Owner role a strong prior background in technical delivery of either Software Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering related products is essential. The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in at least two of the following:

  • Delivery experience of Public Cloud related products Google or Azure

  • The industry term "Internal Developer Platform", along with knowledge of what a Golden Path or Paved Road relates to

  • Backstage.io and Product Catalogue knowledge

  • The Google Cloud Data Science product set

  • A passion for improving the Developer Experience

  • A passion for generating and supporting new ways to teach our internal customer's about our Internal Developer Platform
