The Role
As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client.
This rewarding vacancy is for 26-29 hours per week on a 2-week rota, working in the Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire area. The shift hours are either 9am to 3pm or 8pm to 10pm and you should be available across all days to fit in with the other support workers in the package.
About the Client & Your Responsibilities
Our client is a gentleman in his 50's who lives at home with his wife and two children. The ideal support worker for this role must be proactive in supporting personal development, have a strong ethical value base and have enthusiasm for assisting the client to live their life to the full and as independently as possible.
You will be required to support the client with medication, moving and handling with aid of a hoist, support with catheter care and the upkeep of his hydro pool, assisting the client to any appointments and social outings whilst providing support with personal care and meal preparations. Due to the complex support needs of the client, you ideally should have some previous care experience.
You will be required to drive as part of this role so you should be a driver aged 30yrs for insurance purposes. Our client also has 3 family dogs so you should be comfortable working around dogs with no dog allergies.
Training & Support
We provide comprehensive, paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:
✔ Full induction
✔ Safeguarding Adults
✔ First Aid / Food Hygiene / Health & Safety
✔ Moving and Handling with Hoist
✔ Pressure Area Care / Medication Administration
✔ Catheter Care and Bladder Washout / Personal Care
✔ Blood Pressure Monitoring / Cough Assist
✔ Physio / Spinal Injury Awareness / Understanding Mental Health
All training must be completed prior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.
Who We’re Looking For
Driver with a full UK driving licence, aged over 30yrs for insurance purposes
Previous care experience due to our clients complex needs
Effective organisation and record keeping skills
Must be ok to work with dogs in the home
A compassionate, reliable, and committed individual
