Commercial Manager - Healthcare, Local Government & Education
We're offering an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Healthcare, Local Government and Education team. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you'll help drive a commercially astute, high-performing culture and provide expert stewardship across a portfolio of contracts.
This role focuses on a range of PFI projects across the UK, primarily in the South of England. While some remote working is possible, regular travel to client sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
-Act as the commercial and contractual lead for your projects, supporting strategic growth and profitability.
-Lead on all commercial matters including benchmarking, market testing, sub-contract negotiations, contract variations, claims, and complex commercial discussions.
-Manage risk and opportunity across your portfolio, working with operational teams to develop and implement effective action plans.
-Support operational and support teams through training, audits, deliverables tracking, and sharing best practices to enhance commercial capability.
-Monitor and report on PFI deduction mechanisms, ensuring compliance with output specifications and KPI requirements.
-Prepare commercial reviews and position papers for escalated issues and risks.
-Ensure all governance processes are followed for documentation and approvals.
-Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and legal advisors to ensure smooth project delivery.
-Support senior leadership with strategic initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.
What We're Looking For
-Strong experience in commercial management, ideally within PFI or a similar environment.
-In-depth knowledge of PFI contracts, payment mechanisms, and value testing.
-Proven ability to deliver commercial solutions that reduce risk and unlock value.
-Skilled in stakeholder management, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
-Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
-Confident communicator with excellent influencing and leadership abilities.
-Business-aware, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement.
