Summary
Lyndhurst care home in Leigh is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 40 residents. Dining is a social occasion and our dining rooms are warm and welcoming. We encourage friends and families to join us for meals with prior arrangement or afternoon tea. We also cater for special celebrations for our residents. Menus are prepared in consultation with input from our residents, to ensure that cultural and personal preferences are considered, while achieving a balanced nutritional diet.
As Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards and with the correct use of all equipment and materials.
Essential Skills
Previous catering experience within a care home or commercial setting is preferred.
Food Hygiene Certified Level 2 as a minimum

Key Responsibilities
To plan and provide nutritious meals to all residents on a daily basis, ensuring food purchased is fresh and within budget
Discuss menus with the assistant cook and the Home Manager to ensure a balanced diet is maintained.
Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen, to meet the required standards of practice prescribed by Environmental Health Agencies
Ensure all stock ordered is consistent with planned menus that reflect choice and preference
Ensure that all machines are used correctly, cleaned and stored. Any faults or damage is to be reported immediately.
Ensuring the correct storage and rotation of stocks.
Maintaining cleaning schedules for the kitchen, equipment and associated areas.
