The Older Peoples Psychology team in Medway & Swale is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join them. If you have a positive attitude towards ageing and older age, this is the post for you. The post provides opportunities to gain experience and skills working in a Memory Assessment Service, with multifaceted systems & those who are living with dementia. Undertaking neuro-psychometric testing, as part of the dementia diagnostic process, is an essential requirement of the role.

You will already be confident in administering and interpreting neuropsychological assessments, or you will be a quick learner when it comes to picking up such skills, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. You will work with multidisciplinary teams offering psychological assessment, psychological/psychosocial interventions and working independently according to a plan agreed with qualified staff. The post holder will be required to travel between multiple sites, attending meetings across Kent and, where necessary, undertaking home/care home visits in a timely and efficient manner. These are all essential parts of the role.

This is a full time, permanent post in Medway & Swale. Those seeking to work part time are welcome to apply.
• To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within Older People Swale Community Mental Health Service.
• To provide psychological assessment (including neuro-psychometric testing, as part of dementia diagnostic processes) and interventions under the supervision of HCPC registered practitioner psychologists.
• To assist in the Memory Assessment Service & Older Peoples' psychological therapy services, undertake clinically related work, including waiting list management, research and project work.
• You will benefit from high quality clinical and managerial supervision. Participation in a range of available CPD activities, as well as peer support, will be encouraged.

The post holder will be part of the Kent & Medway Older Peoples Psychology Service, which includes clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, art therapists, music therapists, counselling psychologists, trainee psychologists, clinical associate psychologists, assistant psychologists and psychology placement students.

This is a varied and busy post, which will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop invaluable skills, both clinically and organisationally. We have a good track record of previous Assistant Psychologists gaining places on the Clinical Psychology doctorate courses after their posts with us.
