Summary
The role will cover all aspects of psychiatric care within a team, working at junior doctor grade. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who wishes to gain experience in psychiatry or to gain wider experience to help prepare them for training in psychiatry or for MRCPsych exams. The post will be adapted and supported to the level of the candidate.
This full-time post is inpatient based across 2 PICUs with an excellent, well-resourced multidisciplinary inpatient team. Tower Hamlets Centre for Mental Health is situated within a purpose built unit on the Mile End Hospital site close to Mile End and Stepney Green Tube stations. There is an 11 bedded male PICU ward (Millharbour), which is led by a consultant (1.0 wte). The Female PICU (Rosebank) is a 13-bedded PICU ward for 8 female ELFT patients from across the boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets and City & Hackney, and 5 beds allocated for non-trust patients, and is also lead by a consultant psychiatrist (1.0wte). There is a Specialist Doctor (1.0 wte) on Rosebank Ward and a Specialty Dr (1.0 wte) on Millharbour Ward.

You will carry out assessments of new patients and patient reviews. You will maintain accurate, legible, contemporaneous and useful clinical records for all patients in whose care you are involved. You will carry out management rounds for inpatients under the teams care and provide support and advice. You will be expected to:
Be actively involved in the management and decision making for patients.
To be available during the working week to communicate with and support medical and nursing staff
To attend ward rounds and assist in joint plans for management of care.
To contribute to a holistic model of care which recognises the involvement of the multi-disciplinary team, the patient and family with a focus on recovery and the importance of good physical health care.
You will prescribe pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for the patients that you are working with. You will refer them promptly to other professionals as necessary.
