Summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. This role is based within the Lung Unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital, which is world renowned for excellence in clinical care and clinical research.

Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in Lung Cancers. This is a 11.5 month clinical research fellowship, with possibility of extension.

To fulfil the requirements of the post, applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration, hold a national training number in a relevant specialty and MRCP equivalent.

This post provides considerable postgraduate training in medical and multidisciplinary aspects of the treatment of thoracic malignancies, exposing the Clinical Fellow to a wide range of clinical challenges, current clinical research, and state-of-the art clinical paradigms. Within The Royal Marsden/Institute of Cancer Research there is a strong emphasis on post graduate teaching. In-house meetings involve lectures, seminars, formal journal clubs and tutorials in both clinical and laboratory medicine, the latter often in association with the Institute of Cancer Research. Lectures and special meetings are routinely advertised. Research Fellows are encouraged to attend clinical conferences and courses. Study leave is granted for these activities and some funding may be provided. The writing of scientific manuscripts is actively encouraged.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre. Our role is to offer our patients the best cancer care available anywhere in the world, and to continue to make a global contribution to finding better ways of diagnosing and treating cancer. We employ over 4,500 staff in a diverse range of careers including nursing, medical, science, radiography, pharmacy, occupational therapy, finance and administrative services.
