About The Role

Are you a fire safety professional ready to take the lead in protecting homes and communities? LiveWest are looking for a passionate and experienced Lead Engineer – Fire Servicing and Maintenance to join our dedicated team. This role is based in the areas south of Exeter, offering the opportunity to work across a beautiful and diverse region. Some travel will be required to audit sites across the wider LiveWest patch, so flexibility and a full UK driving licence are essential.

In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership, ensure compliance, and drive excellence in fire safety across our housing portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and support a team of Fire Servicing Engineers, providing expert guidance, mentoring, and deputising for the Property Delivery Team Manager when needed.
- Fire System Maintenance & Compliance: Inspect, maintain, and repair fire alarms, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, and extinguishers, ensuring all work meets current regulations and safety standards.
- Quality Assurance & Auditing: Conduct site audits, vehicle inspections, and quality control checks to ensure high standards of service delivery and compliance with BAFE and BS standards.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal teams, resolving issues efficiently and ensuring clear communication throughout service delivery.
- Emergency Response & Problem Solving: Be part of the emergency call-out rota, responding swiftly to urgent fire safety issues and supporting the team in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.

This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis working 40 hours per week.

About The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Lead Engineer - Fire Servicing and Maintenance, you will have the essential skills, knowledge and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills:
Experience:

- Strong technical and mechanical skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Lead Engineers need 40 hours a year minimum.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies, regulations, and best practices in fire safety through ongoing training and professional development.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Qualifications:

- Apprenticeship or qualification in a core trade and/or experience of working within a team in the construction/maintenance sector.
- FIA (Fire Industry Association) Training: Various courses and certifications are offered by the FIA, including fire detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting.
- Current BS 5839 and BS 5266 Certification: Understanding and complying with these British Standards for fire detection and emergency lighting systems is a requirement. Experience in fire protection system maintenance and servicing.
- Relevant certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies), FIA (Fire Industry Association), BAFE or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications:

- Any Electrical Qualifications.
- Health & Safety training – CITB SSSTS, IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent.
- Sprinkler Systems / Misting Systems / Suppression System.
- Dry / Wet Risers.
- Firefighting Equipment.
- Fire Damper Testing.
- AOV Training.
- Door Entry Systems.
- CCTV Systems.
- NEBOSH Fire Qualification.
