Rates: £19.38 - £24.72

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As a Chemo Nurse , you will:

  • Provide constant monitoring and care for patients in a seriously ill or unstable condition.
  • Assess and prioritise patient requirements, delegating effectively to others.
  • Recognise, review and report patient's condition and any changes to it to senior members of staff within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Adhere to the NMC professional Code of Conduct.
  • Assess patients who have presented side effects due to treatment, as well as assessing patients pre-, during and post-chemotherapy.
  • Manage both the symptoms of a patient's disease and the side effects of various cancer treatments.
  • Evaluate each patient and initiate appropriate cares. This may involve administering drugs or arranging for the patient to see the oncologist.
  • Understand pathology results and their implications and have an in-depth knowledge of the expected side effects of cancer treatments.
  • Hold a deep understanding of nausea, vomiting and fatigue, as these are three of the most common side effects of cancer treatments, especially chemotherapy.
  • Take blood/fit a canula.
  • Listen to the patient, assessing their understanding of the disease and its process as well as the patient's emotional state.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

  • Be a registered nurse.
  • At least 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • systemic anti-cancer therapy competency passport
  • 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
  • You will need to pass an enhanced background check.
