Summary
Radiotherapy Equipment Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and dedicated Equipment Engineering Team within the Radiotherapy Physics Department, based at the Queen’s Centre, Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an interest in pursuing a career in engineering. This entry-level post provides valuable hands-on experience in a specialist clinical environment and may offer a progression route to a degree apprenticeship within the team, subject to availability and eligibility criteria.
Please note:To qualify for a future apprenticeship opportunity, applicants mustnot already hold a degree or higher qualificationin an engineering-related field.
The post holder will work under supervision to support the maintenance and servicing of complex medical equipment used in radiotherapy treatment. Duties include:
• Performing daily safety and functionality checks on treatment machines
• Assisting equipment technicians with fault-finding and repairs
• Monitoring and managing equipment stock
• Logging and tracking equipment faults through to resolution
• Assist with tasks in the wider Radiotherapy department where appropriate
You will be working with a wide range of advanced specialised radiotherapy technologies, including:
• Varian Linear Accelerators (Halcyon and TrueBeam)
• Siemens CT Scanners
• Flexitron brachytherapy afterloader
• Xstrahl superficial unit
• Papillon contact radiotherapy machine
• Machines used directly for patient care,
• The team are responsible for the maintenance of test equipment used for servicing and quality control.
Full training and supervision will be provided. This role is ideal for individuals seeking structured career development within a clinical engineering setting.
