I am a friendly 23 year old woman with Down Syndrome and live with my parents and cockapoo dog.
I love music, dancing, animals and cooking. I attend college and would like to be a chef. I won the Catering and Hospitality Star of the Year 2023 award at college which led to some work experience cooking in a bakery which is now finished.
I also enjoy going to lots of other activities e.g. swimming, Rangers (Girl Guides), dog walks, theatre group and horse riding.
You would be required to assist me with attending social events which could include ten pin bowling and meals out. You will provide help and encouragement for me to interact more with my peers, develop friendships and gain confidence and independence. In particular, I need a buddy who will listen to my needs and ensure I am fully included in the activities I enjoy. I also need someone to help me use technology better and safely.
You will also need to help me to use public transport and cross busy roads, assist with shopping and cooking at home and some domestic tasks.
You will have the ability to understand the challenges faced by young people with Down Syndrome or learning disabilities and have a genuine desire to help me integrate more fully in social settings, and provide some help to carry out everyday activities. I would like a like-minded PA with similar interests. I must be kept safe and supervised at all times.
