This is a unique training role for Counselling Psychologists in the third year of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. This pilot position aims to increase the number of counselling psychologists working in Eating Disorder Services.

The post holder will work in our new Community Eating Disorder Service, which serves residents across our 3 London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney, and Newham. The postholder will work with other Counselling Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Assistant Psychologists, Dietetics, Clinical Associates in Psychology, People Participation Leads, and Service Users on placement in the service. This role will equip the post holder to provide interventions based on Counselling Psychology care principles and evidence-based interventions (CBT, FT-AN, CFT) consistent with their training course needs.

1. To carry out mental health assessments and interventions for adults and/or their carers.

2. To manage a defined caseload of adults (incl. families) requiring treatment from the training interventions as well as a caseload requiring evidence based support and interventions as required

3. To work collaboratively across ED teams (Talking Therapies (IAPT), Neighbourhood Teams, Specialist Services) and with partnership agencies

4. To be a resource of specialist advice, specifically in relation to adult mental health, especially Eating Disorders, to colleagues within ELFT and other professionals and agencies/organisation working in the field of mental health.

5. To work in a culturally sensitive and inclusive way and take into consideration issues of diversity and difference and creating opportunities for service user participation when possible.

6. To ensure that the needs of the client group is paramount, and be aware of and adhere to local safeguarding procedures.

7. Gain and practice a range of interventions related to provision of information and support for evidence based psychological treatments.

8. Practice, evidence, reflect on and demonstrate an ability to manage one’s own caseload in conjunction with the requirements of the team.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
