About the role
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician at Tesco, covering the Cornwall / Helston / Truro areas, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our stores remain safe, operational, and welcoming for both customers and colleagues. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.
You’ll be part of a skilled maintenance team, responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs across a wide range of systems, including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and control panels. Your technical expertise will be key in diagnosing faults, carrying out safe and compliant repairs, and ensuring minimal disruption to store operations.
This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong fault-finding skills, and a commitment to electrical safety and compliance. You’ll also support general maintenance tasks as needed, but your electrical knowledge will be at the heart of your contribution.

You will be responsible for
- Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
- Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, maximising productivity, and effectiveness.
- Delivering high quality work standards across the estate, with year-on-year improvement.
- Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
- Using problem-solving skills and innovation to identify and develop solutions for key and common issues.
- Own tasks at a local level through to completion/resolution, informing key stakeholders through the process, where required.
- Own your development through progression of the maintenance pathway.
- Use the business systems to drive best practice in WON reporting to support asset lifecycle management.
- Representing the Tesco brand following business ways of working, demonstrating values led behaviours, a positive attitude & taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
- Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback

You will need
Operational Skills:
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or improver programme or trade proficiency test / relevant trade experience
- Basic diagnostics: PCB/Microprocessor / HMI controlled systems /equipment
- Electrical Safety Circuit, - Basic Working Knowledge, fault finding and replacement.
EICR Remedial Knowledge - Full driving license
- Health & Safety awareness
- Communication & stakeholder management
- Office 365 knowledge
Relevant Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical (Or Equivalent)
- Apprenticeship/Improver programme
- EICR Remedial works experience
- City & Guilds Inspection & Testing
- ECoPs
- City & Guilds 18th Edition
- MEWP/IPAF Licence
