Key Responsibilities
• Perform complex mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic work on buses including engines, transmissions, air systems, hybrid and electric drivetrains, and onboard electronics.
• Lead fault-finding processes and root cause analysis for persistent or difficult vehicle faults.
• Support and advise other technicians with technical issues, offering training and mentorship as needed.
• Ensure all vehicles meet DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) standards, including MOT and safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in line with company and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for technical support and warranty work.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and standards.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and environmental legislation.
• Occasionally deputize for the Engineering Supervisor or Foreman when required.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a heavy vehicle/bus maintenance role.
• Proven expertise in diagnostic software and advanced vehicle systems (Jaltest, Texa, Xentry, Insite, SDP3, etc).
• Experience in ICE, Hybrid and EV drivelines
• IRTEC Accreditation – A Master tech should have this, I have removed the preferred
• PCV licence (desirable or willingness to obtain).
• Strong understanding of DVSA regulations and fleet compliance standards.

Working Conditions:
• Shift work may be required, including weekends or nights depending on depot operations.
• Work is conducted both in workshop environments and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
