The Business
Our client produces a variety of healthy snacking products, including dried fruit, nuts, peanut butter, and children's puree fruit snacks.
Established in the early 2000's, the company has grown significantly, employing over 300 staff across 4 sites producing products for some of the UK's major retailers, including Aldi, Lidl, Co-Op, and Home Bargains.
The Role
As a key member of the technical team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all supplied products comply with food safety standards and legal requirements. Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and active involvement in the product development process are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take the leading role in the management of product launches by supporting the site in the delivery and launch of new and existing product development and operational improvement. Project manage each launch to ensure the company meets its product delivery target assigned by the customer.
- To play an active part in the NPD process, utilising technical expertise to deliver the technical standards expected working closely with internal departments.
- To complete all customer product specifications and ensure artwork generated comply with all legal / food safety / quality requirements.
- Assist in the management of the supplier quality assurance program and specification control.
- To ensure that raw material compliance is regularly reviewed and approval status is maintained, and to ensure information required during 3rd party audits is available and accurate.
- Utilising customer portals, trade associations and external resources to ensure company compliance and emerging new risks or codes of practice are captured in a timely manner.
- An active member of the site HACCP team and internal audit team.
- Explore new ways of working / technologies to constantly improve systems / processes to produce strong trend data.
- Completion of any technical or quality related projects as required.
- Deputise for the team as and when needed.
Key Skills:
- Food related qualification
- At least 3 years' experience in a food industry role
- Experience of interpreting and implementing retailer codes of practice
- HACCP Level 2
- Food Safety Level 2
- Experience in the use and management of customer technical portals and customer specifications and artwork approval processes
- Internal Auditor Trained
- Good time management and self-motivation with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- IT literate
