Crynodeb
The Department of Ophthalmology benefits from a hospital-wide electronic patient record (Epic) which makes Addenbrookes Hospital a digitally advanced Trust. This digital system helps to improve patient care and provides opportunities for audit evaluations and research projects. Addenbrookes Hospital also provides outstanding facilities for research with opportunities for close collaboration between medical specialties. The Cambridge Eye Research Centre (CERC) provides the research infrastructure for ophthalmology studies within the Department of Ophthalmology. The glaucoma service has a well-established clinical research programme supported by the CERC. Miss Tasneem Khatib is a co-Director of CERC as well an academic consultant with a research team based in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching activities of the department. There is a well-established regional teaching programme for specialist trainees in ophthalmology in the East of England.
