We are currently recruiting for a highly capable and experienced Security Manager to oversee the security operations across our construction sites. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in security management within high-risk and fast-paced environments, particularly in the construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors. This role requires a proactive and organised professional with a deep understanding of construction site protocols, legislative compliance, risk management, and team leadership.

As a Security Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all security strategies and protocols to protect personnel, equipment, and assets across multiple sites. You will manage on-site security teams, ensure compliance with industry standards, and serve as the main point of contact for all security-related matters.

This position is critical to the successful delivery of construction projects by ensuring a safe working environment and safeguarding against potential threats, disruptions, and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate security operations across multiple construction sites.

  • Manage daily security deployments, site patrols, and ensure comprehensive coverage of all access and vulnerable areas.

  • Monitor CCTV systems, electronic access control, and security alarms, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.

  • Maintain a highly visible security presence to deter potential threats and enforce site protocols.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of security systems, procedures, and guard performance.

Team Leadership & Training
  • Recruit, train, and develop security personnel, ensuring they meet the required standards and hold valid SIA licenses and CSCS cards

  • Schedule shifts, manage rotas, and ensure adequate staffing at all times.

  • Conduct briefings, toolbox talks, and refresher training sessions for guards on health & safety, emergency response, and professional conduct.

  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, professionalism, and vigilance.

Compliance & Regulations
  • Ensure full compliance with the Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulations and relevant Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines.

  • Keep up-to-date with legislation affecting construction and security operations, including GDPR, public safety, and site welfare.

  • Conduct risk assessments and create site-specific security plans, including emergency evacuation procedures and incident escalation pathways.

  • Liaise with the client's security teams, local authorities, emergency services, and other contractors to ensure coordinated efforts and information sharing.

Incident Management & Reporting
  • Act as the lead point of contact for all security-related incidents, including theft, trespassing, vandalism, accidents, and emergencies.

  • Investigate and report all incidents thoroughly, maintaining detailed records and recommending corrective actions.

  • Provide accurate and timely reports to senior management, clients, and project teams.

  • Review incidents to identify patterns and implement proactive measures to prevent recurrence.

Technology & Infrastructure
  • Manage the implementation of modern security technologies, such as body-worn cameras, drones, mobile surveillance units, and automated access control.

  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades or improvements to physical security infrastructure, such as fencing, lighting, gates, and monitoring equipment.

  • Ensure all technology is maintained, data is stored securely, and staff are trained in its proper use.

Client Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Represent the security team during project planning meetings, site walkthroughs, and client audits.

  • Build strong working relationships with client representatives, local councils, and law enforcement.

  • Provide professional advice to site managers and project directors on security concerns and risk mitigation strategies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Mandatory
  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.

  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).

  • SSSTS certified
  • FREC certified
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a security leadership role, ideally in the construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering sectors.

  • Proven ability to manage large teams across multiple locations.

  • Strong understanding of site safety procedures, CDM regulations, and relevant legislation.

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.

Desirable
  • NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification.

  • Experience working with tier-one contractors or within the framework of major infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards relating to integrated security systems.

  • Hold valid training in SSSTS Be FREC trained for incident reponse
