OakRay Care is a family run business on the Isle of Wight and the New Forest, specialising in the provision of residential care for the elderly. We run high-quality care homes and are committed to making a positive difference to our residents, in every way. We currently operate four care homes; three on the Isle of Wight and one in Fordingbridge, New Forest.
Our most important asset is our staff, so we always look for individuals who want to make an impact and positive difference on those around them.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Activities Co-ordinator to join our friendly, supportive team at our Fordingbridge care home.
Glynn Court Care Home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 31 people over the age of 65, some of whom are living with dementia or physical health needs, and has been rated Good by the CQC.
Main duties of our Activities Co-ordinator include:
• To create an atmosphere where our residents are stimulated and engaged
• To promote a culture where activities enhance the well-being of our residents
• To understand the need to have person centred activities alongside group activities
• To understand each resident’s activity requirements and wishes through research, assessment and observation
• To produce a varied program based on these findings
• To source appropriate materials that would be beneficial to the activity program
• To incorporate activities which are dementia friendly
• To organise theme and fund-raising events as required
• To organise outings for our residents
• To ensure risk assessments have been carried out on all activities and outings.
Whether you are accompanying a resident to a dentist appointment, completing a care plan document, assisting a resident to have a shower, reading the morning newspaper to a resident, or assisting someone to have breakfast, you should do so with care and kindness.
You must be in or recently been in a similar post, as it is essential you have knowledge and experience of Dementia.
A competitive salary is offered, of £12.50 an hour. This role is for 24 hours a week, over 4-5 days.
If you are enthusiastic, have a caring nature, a natural interest in people and want to make a difference to someone's life, then this might be just the job for you.
If you think you have the ability to care for the elderly and would like to join our friendly team, we'd love to hear from you, so please submit your CV.
