Are you interested in joining an award-winning Scottish charity? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Worker. We are looking for a self-motivated person who is passionate about building inclusive, community-led programmes.

You will help develop and deliver a range of community, youth, and family activities and events that support wellbeing, learning, and social connection. As part of this role, you will also contribute to the pay-what-you-can café as a social space within our wider programme of engagement.

This role offers the opportunity to co-create meaningful projects with the community—ranging from youth development activities and peer support groups to community events. The post also includes supporting Youth Scotland awards, helping young people achieve recognised outcomes.

This position includes working on Tuesday early evenings to facilitate a youth group.

Job Purpose

The Project Worker will play a key role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at our New Connections hub (Lochaber Community Hub). They will lead and support the organisations delivery of community events, youth and family activities, and peer support groups. The role also includes light support for the community café, collaboration with volunteers, and helping maintain the space.

About the Role

As the Project Worker, you will:

  • Develop and deliver a varied programme of inclusive events, workshops, and group activities for the local community, including young people and families
  • Facilitate a weekly Tuesday early evening youth group, encouraging confidence, creativity, and connection
  • Support young people working toward Youth Scotland Awards
  • Co-create events and projects with community members, including a Youth Board, ensuring activities are responsive to local needs
  • Support peer support groups, ensuring they are well-organised, welcoming, and safe
  • Contribute to the running of our pay-what-you-can café as part of building a friendly, social atmosphere
  • Build positive relationships with community members, visitors, and local partners
  • Help promote activities and events through social media, print, and collaboration with the Marketing Manager
  • Recruit, welcome, and support volunteers involved in programme delivery
  • Assist with room setup, space organisation, and light duties to ensure the space remains clean and safe
  • Report any building concerns to management
  • Keep attendance and impact records, contributing to evaluation and reporting
  • Attend team meetings and planning sessions
  • Be available for occasional additional evening or weekend work (TOIL will apply)

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable, and good with people of all ages
  • Organised and reliable, with a can-do attitude
  • Experienced in working with young people, families, or community groups (formal or informal)
  • A good communicator and a team player
  • Flexible with working hours, including availability on Tuesday evenings and some weekends
  • Committed to inclusivity, wellbeing, and the values of Lochaber Hope
