Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Advisor to join a dedicated team supporting a leading social housing provider in North London. This pivotal role will be responsible for promoting a safe working and living environment across our housing stock, offices, and community spaces.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, provide expert advice to staff and contractors, and support the development of a strong safety culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess health and safety risks across residential properties and operational sites.

  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Provide guidance and training to staff, contractors, and residents on health and safety best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation, particularly in relation to social housing.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and produce reports with recommendations.

  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and safety management systems.

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and external auditors as required.

  • Support fire risk assessments and manage compliance actions.

  • Stay informed of changes in legislation and emerging risks, ensuring that practices remain current.

Candidate Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential).

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within social housing, property management, or a related field.

  • Good knowledge of housing-related health and safety legislation, including fire safety and asbestos management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to influence and build effective working relationships at all levels.
